Here's Why

Here's why this page no longer exists:

Here's why my photos have ugly watermarks and encrypted information coded into them:

Here's why all my pages have big notices below the copyright and reservation of rights notices:

An infringer chose to take my story about my father and photos from these pages and plant them on "her" pages.  She was never granted permission to use my content, nor did she ever even request to do so.  And absolute denial of permission was meaningless to her.  Apparently she liked my content and felt it was relevant to her pages, but rather than linking to it she simply took it and placed it on her pages.  She wasn't bothered by my copyright and reservation of rights notices, she simply removed them.  Although she cited the pages whence she had taken my material, the quantity of content she took was far beyond the fair use exception provided under United States Copyright law.

Because I want to protect myself from further illicit activity I have chosen to remove the content that was on this page, place ugly watermarks on and encrypted information into my photos, and add big ugly notices on all my pages so no one can possibly feel entitled to take anything from these pages without my express written permission to do so.  By no means is this the extent of my willingness to protect my work product.  I'm fully committed to spare no expense to protect and defend my legal rights.

The single exception to this rule is the text of Captain E. L. Sackett's story about USS Canopus AS-9 which is in the Public Domain and may be taken and used freely.

I am currently engaged in legal action against the infringer and won't hesitate to pursue the matter to federal court if that is necessary.  She has finally removed the entirety of my story from two of her pages but has yet to remove the photos.  The copyrights I hold on the photos is thin and I am currently weighing my options.  If she continues to keep them on her pages I am seriously considering publishing her name and the whole sordid story, which is fully within my legal rights.  I
may also search her pages for content infringing on the rights of others and begin notification if I find other victims.  I find it most interesting that she has apparently forgotten that her main page contains a strict notice for use of material from her pages which she clearly didn't follow when she took my content.  But unless that notice was part of a web building package, much of it seems to have been borrowed as well.

I implore you each to respect the rights of others as well as our laws.  Theft is unethical, immoral and illegal and eventually the appropriate penalty will be paid by the offender.
