Wright Paynter Shill, Sr. and Lillie Emma Rothrock Shill were two of the very nicest people you could ever hope to meet. They were always honest and kind to everyone. I never heard anyone say a bad word about either of them, and I doubt that anyone ever could. They were by no means as stern as they look in this picture. Grandpa was smitten from the moment he met Grandma and he was devastated when she succumbed to cancer. He carried a torch for her until the day he died many years later.
